Interior Designer’s New Years Resolutions

If your an interior designer that is hoping for a better 2010…here are a few thoughts…
- Choose your mindset carefully. What you think determines your results
- Choose your friends and associates. Are your friends and associates supporting your success? Are they positive and encouraging? It is said that we can measure our success by the people that surround us. Choose wisely – time is limited.
- Choose how you spend your work time. Are you working on the high leverage 10s on your list, or are you busy with email, phone calls, busywork and filing (or shuffling papers)? Work on what will get you closer to your goals during your most productive time of the day.
- Find your why. Identify what really matters to you can propel yourself to greater happiness and success in your life. That motivation will help you through even the most challenging times.
- Search for clarity. When you know what is important, you can accomplish more in less time. Many people aren’t clear about their goals and why they’re even pursuing them. Once you’re clear, it is easy to create a plan to accomplish the goals…just start at the end and figure out the step that comes before the result…and the one before that…and the one before that.
- Be generous with your love, caring and compassion…it feels great!
- Be ruthless with your managing yourself and your personal resources of time and energy.
- Express gratitude frequently and lavishly…it always comes back in positive ways including your attitude.
- Enjoy the small things in life…the smiles, laughs, perfectly imperfect people, sunshine on a snowy day, tripping on the sidewalk, learning how to do something new or scary, inevitable change, friends kind words and every minute you live with health, happiness and freedom.
- Resolve to live with emotional intelligence, creative curiosity and authentic belief in the goodness of people. Life is truly a gift and how we live it is our choice.
