Marketing to Interior Design Prospects Through Social Media
Networking is a tired word in many people’s vocabulary, but it is still important. What’s even more important today is to keep up with the newer forms of networking through Social Media – Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.
This topic is huge and is growing fast. The problem for most interior designers is to figure out what to do, how often and when. Does it pay off? What are the shortcuts? Can you really connect with prospects this way?
Yes, it does work. It will be an increasingly more productive way to connect once you understand that it isn’t about the tactic of posting a tweet on Twitter, or just having a Fan Page on Facebook. You have to have a marketing strategy that you create for your business that includes Social Media, but it is by no means the only form of marketing you should do.
Since the year is winding down, I’ll repeat how important it is to have a PLAN for everything you do. It’s like going on a trip to a foreign country. Do you go without an airline ticket from here to London? Would you travel with an open-ended ticket? Do you know how long you’ll be there? Do you have a budget for your trip? Do you have an idea what will make it a successful trip? Do you have other destinations you’ll be visiting on the trip? Does that require a car, a boat, a plane, a train or some other method of travel? What do you need for your trip? Do you need shots? Do you need maps? Do you need a guide book?
Social Media is just one tool in your marketing kit, and knowing what you want to achieve with it, how to use it effectively, and what it costs in terms of time or having someone else do it for you should be a part of the bigger Business Plan and Marketing Plan picture.
We’ll be devoting more time to the topic of planning through January so you’ll be ready to tackle the year with confidence and a clear focus. Let us know what your questions are regarding planning for your business. We’re here to help.
