That's an ongoing challenge. Most of all, find out what is important to the client. Uncover potential objections early in the relationship. No one likes conflict, so try to avoid it by asking very thorough questions about things that you've experienced in past experiences with clients. For instance, I had a client that was obsessive about dust. I had to call a cleaning crew, of get this, 12 people to come in one afternoon before he returned from a trip. I didn't find out until the morning from his wife that she was terrified about her husband coming home to the dust from a major construction job. That was a $1,000 cleaning bill that I covered. The house was spotless when he returned.
