Paying hundreds or even thousands of dollars for costly magazine or newspaper advertising. Most businesses budget between 3 – 6% of their expenses for advertising, marketing and PR, but this is the worst possible place for you to be spending your money.

Professional photography of your best work, and a great head shot should be your first serious investment.

If you haven’t developed branding for your business, I’d recommend doing that before setting up your blog or printing stationery, too.  Your image should be consistent throughout all of your marketing efforts.
