What is an Autoresponder? This is an automated system to communicate with your site visitors and clients. You can send automated follow-up messages and also broadcast your newsletters on a schedule. This is a great tool to add to your marketing.

What is a Blog? A blog is a web log, or essentially, a diary. It is extremely easy to set up a blog, and in most cases, it is free. It just takes time and creative writing skills (and if you don’t like to write – you can outsource this) to build your brand. What is an eBook? It is an electronic book that you can download to your computer and print off.

What is an eZine? An eZine is an electronic newsletter about one topic.

What is a PDF? Portable Document Format materials are read only documents.

What is a Podcast? It is an audio recording that can be created and uploaded to your blog or website.

What is a Preview Call? A preview call is your opportunity to hear one of our instructors share information about his or her upcoming teleseminar or webinar. Most preview calls are free, and if you are not able to make the call, you can purchase a replay.

What is an RSS feed? An RSS (Real Simple Syndication) feed allows you as a reader to subscribe to updated content. For instance, if you want to subscribe to a blog feed, you will receive notification in your inbox and this saves the effort of going to the blog to see if there is a new update. Many websites use an orange button to indicate where to sign up for an RSS feed.

What is a Search Engine? Google, Yahoo and MSN are three of the top search engines. When someone enters a phrase or a company name in the browser bar at the top of the screen, they usually use a preferred site such as one of these. For most designers, if you are listed on these three engines, it is sufficient to build traffic to your site.

What is SEO? It is Search Engine Optimization. If you want to increase traffic to your website, there are many techniques you can use. This is an advanced tactic, and be very careful about investing in classes about SEO. If you are interested in getting deep into technology, this is for you. If not, we will share techniques to help you build your traffic.

What is Social Networking? You may have heard of FaceBook and My Space. These are just a few of the sites that you can use to network. There are also professional sites such as LinkedIn and FastPitch. You should definitely have a listing on www.AvaLiving.com since it is 100% dedicated to interior design and is free for designers. When you create your listing, be sure to include your website and blog addresses so you can develop links to your main website if you have a static site. This also increases traffic.

What is a Teleseminar? It is teleconference where you are the moderator and you can have guests, and your audience listens in. They can ask questions during the teleconference which is a great way to build an interactive exchange. It is also a great way to build your brand by creating educational material for your audience. You can also build a revenue stream for your business that does not rely on selling your time for money. You can also charge for your teleseminars, record your teleseminars and offer them for sale. You will pay normal long-distance charges for the call and any class fees if they apply.

What is a Videoblog? It is a blog with an embedded video. This is a great technique to connect with your readers. It gives a more personal approach to your blog.

What is a Webinar? It is a combination of a teleseminar and a web-based presentation by one presenter. You can log in and listen to a presentation and watch the presenter’s screen at the same time if you have a headset or speakers on your computer. If you don’t have sound capabilities on your computer, you can also dial into a teleseminar phone line to listen to the audio portion of the presentation. You will pay normal long-distance charges for the call and any class fees that apply.

What is Whitelisting? When you “whitelist” an email address, it means that you want to receive content or emails from the sender. Whitelisting prevents the sender’s emails from going into your spam filter.
