  • You’ll receive case study recordings to listen to on your own schedule.  We recommend that you put dates and times on your calendar right now to listen to the recordings during the week you receive them.
  • We want you to listen to the case studies before Gail’s session toward the end of the series so you can hear how other designers have implemented fixed fees in their businesses.  You may not agree with the way they do it, but that’s why we’ve included different perspectives.
  • We’ll provide an action form for you so you can write down what you are planning to do with the information.  We recommend that you plan your actions as you’re listening to the call.
  • Add the action items to your calendar.
  • Write down your questions about the session and bring it to the live Q & A call.  If you can’t attend the call and you have a question, just email it to info@designsuccessu.com with a subject line of VBF Question and we’ll answer it on the call which will be recorded and posted on the download page.

How to get the most from your Value Based Fee Series

  • Go into this with an open mind.  Each speaker has a different style, and you’ll learn what you don’t want to do as much as what you do want to do, and that’s good information.
  • Come with a focus on creating a trusted advisor role vs. being a deliverer of commodity services.  Your role is to give your clients what they want and how they want it while being valued for your work.  If you exchange time for dollars, you will be in a relationship of conflict no matter how wealthy your client is.
  • It will be uncomfortable to create your Value Based Fees at first and maybe even overwhelming.  That’s OK…it means you’re about to have a big break-through.
  • We specifically waited until the end for you to have the process explained so you can sift through the other recordings for their golden nuggets.
  • Listen to the recordings each week before the Q & A calls and bring your questions to the call
  • If you don’t know how long it takes you to do projects, start a log or print off time reports and really analyze your business.  It is vital that you understand what it takes to do the work.
  • Take notes even though you have a transcript.  It helps you remember what you heard.  Gail actually uses a leather journal to do this per speaker or class.
  • Practice, practice, practice!  Actually write out a presentation using Gail’s notes and rehearse and memorize it.  Think about how confident you are as you’re practicing, and how this will totally change your client relationships.  Even do this in front of a friend until you are comfortable.  It will be a complete shift in your business practices and it is worth it.
