My name is Gail Doby and I started in interior design over 20 years ago and built a successful and profitable practice.  At the peak of my business, I had 7 employees and my business reached almost $900,000 in revenue.

Then disaster struck...

I remember where I was on the morning of 9/11.  I was watching the Today Show and drinking coffee before going to the office.  It was surreal to watch the World Trade Center buildings crumble into a heap of smoldering rubble before my eyes. 

I remember feeling shocked, saddened, and stunned.  I called my employees and told them not to go to work, and then I sat in horror and watched TV the whole day. 

The rest of the week we were in a daze and I realized that the business would never be the same

Like many other businesses, I had to lay off employees.  It was emotionally devastating after years of working 7 days a week to bring in business, support my employees, manage the staff and make payroll.

9/11 was a blessing in disguise.  Ironically, I realized that I really didn't want to have a large staff with expensive overhead.  It was the perfect storm of an external and an internal crisis.
